MyHikes is a community-driven application designed to facilitate the creation and exploration of hiking routes. This platform offers users the functionality to track their hiking experiences and manage their routes effectively through MyHikes.org.

Track Your Hike: The app features background tracking capabilities, allowing users to create and save their personal trails directly within the application. Registered users can upload GPS tracks to their MyHikes.org account for detailed statistics and can also request publication of their hikes for broader public accessibility. While all users can save up to 15 GPS tracks in-app, MyHikes Supporters enjoy the benefit of saving an unlimited number.

Edit Tracks: Users have the option to refine their tracks by accessing the Tracks tab, where they can edit user-created routes. This functionality includes removing erroneous data points or segments, enhancing the accuracy of the recorded trail.

Offline Maps: Non-supporter users are permitted to download one complimentary map region for offline use. Supporters, however, have unlimited access to map downloads to accompany them on their hikes.

Explore: MyHikes.org boasts a collection of over 2,100 guided hikes covering more than 4,700 miles. Users can identify significant features such as vistas, waterfalls, and accessible trails while utilizing trail maps and elevation charts available on the platform. Registered hikers are encouraged to submit Trip Reports, which serve not only as personal records but also aid fellow hikers in understanding current trail conditions. The primary focus of MyHikes' data is in the Northeast United States, with additional extensive guides for hiking in Maui and Kauai.

Send to Phone: Users can conveniently send MyHikes.org trail routes to their mobile devices through a designated "Send to Phone" button. The app allows downloading selected routes directly via an in-app function, available exclusively for supporters who can send up to 25 trails at a time.

Import GPX Files: The ability to import GPX files directly into the MyHikes app enhances the experience for supporters, who can import an unlimited number of such files. Non-supporters may import one GPX file for personal use during their hikes.

3D Maps: An innovative feature within MyHikes is its detailed 3D maps that allow users to visualize trails and surrounding terrains by overlaying custom or imported tracks. This tool aids in understanding topography and elevation profiles effectively.

Location Privacy: The application emphasizes user privacy by not tracking data on its servers during trail activities or self-guided hikes. User GPS information is only transmitted to MyHikes servers when a trail is uploaded from the app.
